Remittance giant MoneyGram has run an active validator on Solana since 22 June and joined the Solana Developer Platform — following the launch of its MGUSD stablecoin (on Stellar). MoneyGram also runs validators on Tempo and Midnight.

What Happened

Global remittance company MoneyGram has been an active validator on the Solana network since 22 June 2026, contributing directly to its security, integrity and performance. At the same time, MoneyGram joined the Solana Developer Platform — an API-driven platform for building compliant financial products on Solana (whose participants include Mastercard).

Context

A validator confirms transactions and helps secure the proof-of-stake network. An established payments company running its own validator — rather than just using the network — is a visible infrastructure commitment. What a validator does: Solana validator selection.

The move follows MoneyGram’s MGUSD stablecoin (USD-backed, launched 2 June — initially on Stellar, not Solana). MoneyGram now runs official validators on Solana, Tempo and Midnight, positioning itself as a bridge between payments-focused chains. It sits alongside institutional payment integrations such as Mastercard’s Agent Pay.

Why It Matters

Institutional infrastructure participation — running a validator plus a compliance platform — is a different signal than mere token usage: a payments company actively helps secure the network and builds real products on it. For how stablecoins work on Solana: Stablecoins on Solana.

Update (August 11, 2026): The First Product Is Here

The open question above about concrete payment products is answered: MoneyGram Ramps — the API for cash deposits and payouts — is live on Solana, with the Rift wallet as the first integrator. Details in our report: MoneyGram Ramps is live on Solana.
