MoneyGram Ramps Is Live on Solana: Cash In, Cash Out — Through One API

What Happened

MoneyGram Ramps is live on Solana and integrated into the payments module of the Solana Developer Platform. Ramps is a single API for compliant cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash flows: deposits at MoneyGram locations in over 25 countries, payouts in over 170 countries and territories — per MoneyGram across a network of roughly 500,000 locations and more than 60 million customers. With the Solana launch, Ramps goes multichain; MoneyGram’s crypto rails previously ran on Stellar.

The first Solana wallet with a Ramps integration is Rift. Per the announcement, a sandbox and SDKs are available for developers.

Why This Is the Important Part

The biggest bottleneck between the on-chain economy and everyday life was never the swap — it was the path from cash into the wallet and back. That last mile is now handled by a regulated payments company: wallets and apps integrate one API instead of building their own banking partnerships, licenses, and compliance tracks. The regulatory weight sits with MoneyGram; the integration sits with the builder.

The announcement makes no country-specific statements about DACH availability — which corridors are actually live is decided per country by the Ramps status.

The Context

MoneyGram has been building out its Solana presence in stages for months: June brought its own validator plus Developer Platform membership — Ramps is now the first concrete payment product to come out of it. It joins a dense payments series: Western Union’s Stablecard and the KSNET memorandum target the same field — payment giants moving their rails onto Solana.

Note: This is reporting, not investment advice.

What to Watch

  • Which wallets integrate after Rift — and whether major consumer wallets follow
  • Which country corridors actually go live, particularly in the DACH region
  • How fees and limits of the cash flows play out in practice
