KSNET and Solana Foundation: Solana Pay Set to Reach 330,000 Merchants in Korea
Korean payment provider KSNET signs a memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation: Solana Pay is to be integrated into a network of over 330,000 merchants — with x402 additionally being tested for AI agent payments.
What Happened
Korean payment provider KSNET has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Solana Foundation, according to Solana. The goal is integrating Solana Pay into KSNET’s payment network — which, per the announcement, spans more than 330,000 merchants and processes roughly 4 billion US dollars in monthly volume.

What It Means
Solana Pay is Solana’s standard for direct payments between wallet and merchant — with no card network in between. An integration at the payment-provider level would mean merchants don’t have to set up the connection individually, but could get it through their existing point-of-sale infrastructure.
The x402 part targets a different field: payments triggered not by humans but by AI agents — for instance when an agent uses a paid API or service and pays per call.
Important Status Context
A memorandum of understanding is not a live rollout: it describes an intention, not an operating service. The announcement does not name a timeline, scope, or concrete implementation steps.
Korea is not new territory for the Solana ecosystem — most recently, Google Cloud and the Solana Foundation hosted a hackathon for AI agent applications there.
