Solana Weekly Recap (October 4, 2026): A Standard for Tokenized Securities, Banks on Solana, 54ms
The Solana weekly recap: Metaplex introduces a standard for permissioned securities, banks in North Dakota settle payments over Solana, and Alpenglow finalizes on testnet at a median of 54ms.
SOLANA·HUB Editorial
The week had three themes. Tokenized securities got infrastructure: Metaplex introduced a standard for permissioned assets, and Backpack Securities listed more single stocks. Banks are using Solana in production: in North Dakota, more than 90 institutions settle payments between each other with a dollar token. And the new Alpenglow consensus has first measurements, while the shorter slot time has an analysis from the Foundation. We summarize and link to our full coverage for each.
Infrastructure: Measurements on Alpenglow and Slot Time
- 54ms on testnet: Votor finalizes on testnet at a median of 54 milliseconds, per Anza Head of Research Roger Wattenhofer; the Alpenglow paper had named 150ms as the target. Only the voting phase is measured, and testnet values are not a mainnet measurement. There is still no mainnet date. → Read the story · Alpenglow status
- Slot time stages in review: per the Foundation, the skip rate stayed stable from 400 to 250ms, while vote latency rose, most in Asia and South America. Smaller validators lose proportionally more vote credits than large ones. Per the Foundation, 200ms is increasingly an economic rather than purely technical question. → Read the story
Tokenized Securities
- MPL-3643: Metaplex introduced a standard for permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities, built on Token-2022 and the Solana Attestation Service. It runs in limited-access early access on mainnet and, per its docs, has not been audited. → Read the story
- BLK, BE, and PUSA: Backpack Securities brought BlackRock, Bloom Energy, and Powerus stock to Solana via Sunrise, redeemable 1:1 per Backpack. For BLK, Backpack published the official mint address. → Read the story
Banks and Payments
- Roughrider Coin: Fiserv put its digital asset platform into production. The first use case is a dollar-backed token from the Bank of North Dakota for bank-to-bank payments, issued by VersaBank and settled on Solana. Retail customers have no access. → Read the story
Wallets
- Readable signatures on Ledger: Jupiter is the first app to support Anza’s new standard for off-chain messages. For limit orders and DCA, a Ledger used via Jupiter Wallet now shows readable text, per Jupiter. → Read the story
Short Notes
