Colosseum Eternal: Solana's Hackathon Is Now Always Open — Sprints on Demand

What happened

Colosseum, the organizer of Solana’s major hackathons, has reopened Eternal — a competition format that runs between the scheduled hackathons. The core idea: if you want to build, you don’t wait for the next cycle, you start on demand. Per the Colosseum page, the format is currently open, with a counter showing more than 28 participating builders.

How it works

The process is deliberately lean:

1. Create an account and open the Eternal dashboard.
2. Start your own sprint: clicking the stopwatch in the dashboard kicks off your four-week sprint — so the window starts individually, not simultaneously for everyone.
3. Weekly update: at the end of each week, a one-minute project update is due in the dashboard.
4. Submit: after the four weeks, the finished product is submitted.

What is at stake

Submitted projects compete, per Colosseum, for $250,000 in pre-seed funding. The page also mentions a new “Eternal Award” — without listing a specific amount for it.

Context

• The real difference from classic hackathons is the start date: instead of one fixed registration window for everyone, each team decides when its four weeks run. That lowers the barrier for teams that have time right now.
