WLD on Solana via Sunrise

The official Solana account wrote on October 7 that WLD from World Network is live on Solana via Sunrise. Shortly after, Raydium reported that WLD is live on Raydium and that Worldcoin is trading on Solana via Sunrise.

A separate announcement from Sunrise or World Network, with a product page or mint address, was not available at the time of writing. This article is therefore based on the posts from those two accounts, not on a token page. Addresses from third-party sites or from replies are deliberately left out. Anyone trading should check the mint only against a source that Sunrise, World Network, or the Solana Foundation publishes itself. For comparison: on the ZAMA listing via Sunrise, Zama and tokens.xyz published the mint address themselves.

Data-Protection Background from Bavaria

Separately from the listing, the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA) has dealt with Worldcoin’s biometric processing. In its press release of December 19, 2024, the office closes an investigation opened in April 2023 with a first order for corrective measures. The release still uses the name “Worldcoin” and says the identity and financial network is “currently called the World Network.” The review centers on World ID — proof that someone is a unique person, produced from biometric data derived from iris images — not on trading a token on Solana.

Among other points, BayLDA requires the company to provide a GDPR-compliant deletion procedure within one month of the decision taking effect, to obtain explicit consent for certain processing steps in the future, and to delete certain records previously collected without a sufficient legal basis. The decision was coordinated with the European data protection authorities concerned. The company told the office it is going to appeal. Whether a fine proceeding follows is, under national administrative law, a separate proceeding. A later BayLDA release on the outcome of that appeal was not available at the time of writing. The end-of-2024 status is therefore not a finding about where the proceeding stands today.

What to Watch

  • Whether Sunrise or World Network follows up with its own announcement of the official Solana mint
  • Whether BayLDA publishes the outcome of the announced appeal
