Marinade treats bonds at the 1 SOL floor as no bond
Since the auction for epoch 1072, a Marinade SAM validator bond counts only if it can pay stakers. About 1 SOL held as an unchargeable floor does not count as cover. The validator gets no SAM stake.
On 30 October 2026, Marinade wrote on X that a validator bond counts in the Stake Auction Marketplace (SAM) only if it can actually pay stakers.
A bond’s last stake account must hold about 1 SOL. That floor can never be charged. According to Marinade, a bond that held only the floor looked bonded, but it could never cover a missed reward.
Since the auction for epoch 1072, SAM treats such a bond as no bond. The validator receives no SAM stake. If stake is removed, that validator is first in line.
Epoch 1072 began on 30 October. The block time of the first slot comes from a query of the public mainnet endpoint on 30 October.
Marinade does not say how many validators hold only the floor.
