Jupiter Lend v2 Is Live: Deposits and Debt Now Earn Trading Fees on the Side
Jupiter rolled out Lend v2. Optional Smart Vaults make deposits and borrowed assets double as liquidity for the Jupiter router — deposits earn lending yield plus trading fees, and borrow costs can drop.
What Happened
Jupiter has shipped Lend v2. The central addition are optional Smart Vaults in two flavors:
- Smart Collateral: Deposited assets additionally work as liquidity for the Jupiter router. They earn lending yield plus trading fees — and for assets like JupSOL, the native staking yield on top.
- Smart Debt: Borrowed assets can work as router liquidity too. The trading fees earned offset borrow costs — making debt cheaper, and per Jupiter potentially even net-positive during periods of high trading activity.
Both features are opt-in; classic positions remain unchanged. A lifetime PnL view tracks the position’s performance over time.
How It Works Mechanically
The Smart Vaults are bound to correlated pairs — stablecoin-to-stablecoin or SOL/JupSOL, for instance. Within these tight price bands, the same deposit can serve as loan collateral and swap liquidity at once, without the loss profile of classic volatile LP positions. The flip side is in Jupiter’s own risk note: if the correlation breaks — say, a stablecoin depeg — collateral providers carry the rebalancing risk.
What It Means
Jupiter is merging two previously separate capital pools: lending deposits and DEX liquidity. For users, that means more yield sources per deployed asset — but also a position profile that is no longer pure lending, but a combination of credit and liquidity exposure. How Jupiter’s routing works in principle is covered in Jupiter Explained; Jupiter also recently rebuilt its trading surface with Spot V2.
Note: This is reporting, not investment advice. Yields are not guaranteed; Smart Vaults carry additional risks compared to classic lending.
What to Watch
- How much capital moves into the Smart Vaults and how effective rates develop
- How the construction behaves in its first stress case (depeg, liquidity withdrawal)
- Whether other lending protocols on Solana follow
