Backpack and SK Securities plan Korean stocks in the app

On 29 October Backpack and SK Securities announced a partnership. Eligible investors who do not live in Korea are meant to trade Korean stocks in the Backpack app.

Backpack and the Korean securities firm SK Securities (KRX: 001510) announced a partnership on 29 October 2026. Eligible foreign investors who do not live in Korea are meant to trade Korean stocks through the Backpack app. The release describes a plan, not a market that is already open.

According to Backpack, SK Securities takes underwriting, issuance, and distribution. Backpack names blockchain infrastructure, digital custody, and access to users as its own part. Structuring, custody, and distribution sit under the law that applies in each case.

The first focus is exchange-listed Korean stocks. Backpack describes tokenized securities and RWAs as the basis for further work together. The release does not say these stocks will be issued as tokens on Solana.

The photo in Backpack’s post shows a banner for a memorandum of understanding. The banner names SK Securities, Backpack Securities, and 22 October 2026.

The release builds on Backpack’s existing US securities platform. How that platform’s tokenized US stocks run on Solana is in the Backpack Securities report.

Armani Ferrante, co-founder and CEO, says in the press release that Korean stocks had long been hard to reach for most investors outside Korea.

What to watch

  • A start date and a country list
  • Whether the planned trading will be offered in the EU
