Lily Liu postpones Accelerate Shanghai after registrations quadrupled

SOLANA·HUB Editorial

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, is postponing Accelerate Shanghai. She wrote that on X on 16 October.

Registrations quadrupled overnight because of the publicity, she writes, and ran far past the cap the Foundation had registered with local authorities. The Foundation could not stop people from overwhelming the venue.

The Foundation is postponing the event in order to meet local requirements. It is to take place once the Foundation can host a community of this size. Liu apologized to people who had traveled to Shanghai.

Earlier that morning, organisers told registered guests that the day’s agenda was postponed for logistical reasons at the venue. Solana Compass reproduced the notice from PANews. Guests are to hear directly once a new schedule is set.

Attendees reported police at the Shangri-La hotel, Solana Compass writes. Compass says it could not independently verify the poster’s identity. Liu’s post and the organiser notice do not mention the police.

Liu writes that Solana went up on the big screen. The office and the skyline lighting are in the 15 October report.

The tour page still lists Shanghai for 16 October. Hangzhou is listed for 18 October, Shenzhen for 20 October and Beijing for 22 October.

What to watch

  • A new date for Shanghai
  • Whether Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing go ahead on the listed days
