RWA (Real-World Assets)
Real-world assets (stocks, bonds, gold, real estate) represented as tokens on the blockchain — on Solana e.g. tokenized US stocks via xStocks.
RWA (Real-World Assets)
RWA stands for real-world assets — real holdings such as stocks, bonds, funds, gold, or real estate represented as tokens on a blockchain. An issuer holds the real value in custody and mints tokens against it, ideally backed 1:1.
RWAs on Solana
- Tokenized stocks — such as xStocks (Backed Finance) or Backpack Securities, each backed 1:1 by shares held in custody
- Tokenized treasuries/money-market products — e.g. offerings from major asset managers
- Stablecoins — the largest RWA category: tokenized US dollars
What to Watch For
- Issuer and custodian risk: the backing depends on the counterparty.
- Regulation: availability differs by country; many offerings target non-US persons only.
- No classic ownership rights: token holders often have no voting rights.
