Solana Foundation and Google Cloud launch Pay.sh — gateway for agent-to-API payments

The Solana Foundation, in collaboration with Google Cloud, launched Pay.sh: an API gateway through which autonomous AI agents settle stablecoin payments for API calls, based on the open standards x402 and MPP.

What happened

On 5 May 2026, the Solana Foundation launched Pay.sh in collaboration with Google Cloud. The official announcement describes Pay.sh as “a gateway service designed to bridge the gap between autonomous agents and enterprise infrastructure”. The goal: autonomous agents can “instantly discover, access, and pay-per-request” for APIs, without an account or subscription.

How Pay.sh works

According to the announcement, Pay.sh is an API proxy that runs on Google Cloud infrastructure and sits in front of Google Cloud services such as BigQuery, Gemini, BigTable, Cloud Run, and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Instead of classic credentials, authorization happens per request through a stablecoin payment on Solana — in the Foundation’s words: “The payment is the credential — it’s that simple.” Settlement happens in seconds, per the Foundation.

Which standards Pay.sh builds on

Pay.sh relies on two open standards for agent-to-API payment:

  • x402 — HTTP-native payment protocol using status code 402 as a pay-per-request mechanic.
  • MPP (Machine-native Payment Protocol) — specification for machine-readable payment requirements.

The code is open source and available on GitHub, per the Foundation.

Launch partners

The announcement names eight launch partners: PayAI, Crossmint, Merit Systems, Corbits, Moonpay, Sponge Wallet, ATXP, and Tektonic Company.

What to watch next

  • Which other cloud providers or enterprise APIs add Pay.sh integrations.
  • Whether the “stablecoin as credential” model scales beyond Google Cloud.
  • How Pay.sh sits next to other x402 implementations in the Solana ecosystem.

Not financial advice. The article describes an infrastructure delivery, not an investment vehicle.
