Over 1 Billion Transactions in a Week for the First Time: Solana Sets Usage Record
Solana processed more than 1 billion non-vote transactions in the week ending 6 July — real user activity excluding validator voting. The milestone is verifiable via independent onchain statistics.
What happened
Solana processed more than 1 billion non-vote transactions in the week ending 6 July 2026 — a new weekly record. The milestone was reported by the official Solana account and can be verified against independent onchain statistics such as The Block’s data.
Why “non-vote” is the number that matters
Solana’s validators generate a large volume of transactions themselves through continuous consensus voting. To measure real usage, that voting is excluded: non-vote transactions are what users, apps, trading and agents actually trigger on the chain. Over 1 billion of them in one week averages out to roughly 1,600 user transactions per second — around the clock.
Context
The record comes as several usage drivers converge: tokenized assets with growing trading volume, consumer applications such as wallet-integrated prediction markets, and ongoing infrastructure work like Agave v4.1, which prepares the network for the Alpenglow consensus. For how Solana’s transaction counts compare in general — including against other networks — see our pillar Does Solana really process more transactions than Ethereum?.
Honest context: a transaction record says nothing about the kind of activity — bot and arbitrage transactions count too. But it does show that the network’s capacity is in real demand.
Note: This is reporting, not investment advice.
What to watch
- Whether the level holds above 1 billion/week or remains an outlier
- How the composition evolves (DeFi, consumer, agents)
- Whether the capacity increases planned for v4.2 open the curve further
