Sanctum announces a 2-of-3 multisig for its wallet
Sanctum says an update will turn the wallet into a three-key multisig. Any two keys would approve a transaction. No start date is given.
On 13 October, Sanctum announced on X that an update will turn the Sanctum wallet into a three-key multisig. The thread names one key on the device, one backed up to iCloud or Google Drive, and one tied to the email login. Any two of them are supposed to approve a transaction.
If the phone is lost, the other two keys are supposed to restore access. One leaked key, Sanctum says, is not enough on its own to move funds. Sanctum says the update goes out to the app “soon”.
Sanctum’s reason is that most wallets hang on a single key, whether that key sits in a seed phrase, an app, or a hardware wallet. Still open are the exact start, what happens to existing wallets, and who holds the cloud backup and the email key.
The single-signer case is in the MediaMarkt and Ledger report. swSOL is a different product, covered in the 9 October report.
