HYB on Solana: Centrifuge Brings NYLI's High-Yield Bond Strategy Onchain

What Happened

Centrifuge made HYB available on Solana on September 24. Behind it is an actively managed strategy of U.S. high-yield corporate bonds. Per Centrifuge, the strategy is managed by New York Life Investment Management (NYLI). The official Solana account puts NYLI’s assets under management at $838 billion.

What HYB Is and What Remains Open

• High-yield bonds are corporate bonds rated below investment grade. They pay higher interest because the issuers’ default risk is higher.
• Centrifuge frames HYB as an expansion: the tokenized fixed-income market has so far been dominated by cash-management products. Now, per Centrifuge, products with a broader mix of duration, credit risk, and return profiles are being added.
• Open: who may hold HYB, whether there are minimums or transfer restrictions, and in which jurisdictions the product is accessible are not stated in the announcement.

The Context

According to Centrifuge, Solana’s RWA market grew from $1.5 billion at the start of the year to more than $4 billion in August, with 350,000+ addresses holding tokenized assets. On the same day, the Solana Foundation cited more than $4.5 billion. Both are self-reported figures. HYB joins the RWA series on Solana, most recently with loans (Hastra AUTO), funds (BAGEY), and ETFs (COPX).
