Akash vote on a move to Solana is open
Proposal 346 asks AKT stakers whether the Akash protocol leaves akashnet-2 for Solana mainnet. Voting ends on 2 November 2026 at 4:02 p.m. Berlin. A yes vote does not set a move date.
Akash’s core team has put a move from its Cosmos chain, akashnet-2, to Solana mainnet in front of AKT stakers. Proposal 346 has been in the voting period since 26 October. A public chain query the same day shows that status.
Voting ends on 2 November 2026 at 4:02 p.m. Berlin time. That day, Akash wrote on X asking holders to vote and linked the blog post that argues for Solana.
What a yes vote authorizes
A yes vote approves the move as AEP-79 and the Chain Migration Program describe it. The proposal text says so. It also allows AKT to launch as an SPL token on Solana once audits of the token and the portal are done.
The proposal expects that launch two to three weeks after a yes vote. A portal would then stay open for two years. Transfers run one way, at 1:1, with the same ticker and six decimals.
AKT that passes through the portal leaves circulation on akashnet-2. Total supply does not change. Akash’s blog of 26 October instead puts the token launch two weeks after a yes vote, and only after two independent audits.
Those two clocks do not match. For staked AKT, the proposal describes a single portal transaction. It starts unbonding, and the balance arrives as an SPL token after 21 days.
The blog describes a different order. Holders unbond first, which takes 21 days, and use the portal after that. The proposal warns about fake portals. It says the official domain will be announced through Akash’s own channels.
What this vote does not set
The proposal does not set a date for moving the marketplace. Leases, staking, and governance on akashnet-2 continue. The marketplace moves only after audits and rehearsals, and only if a separate cutover proposal passes on this chain.
According to the proposal, staking rewards and old-chain inflation end at cutover. Validator income and the validator role end at halt, 90 days after cutover. A no vote stops the token launch and sends the program back to weighing options.
Fees and a mid-vote tally
The proposal’s case is that Akash would stop running its own chain. It says about 100 validators bond AKT only to secure consensus. It puts network fees for the whole marketplace at about 0.075 SOL a day.
The text also points to DePIN networks on Solana, including Helium and Render. According to the proposal, the Solana Foundation has offered engineering, audit, and gas support. The plan does not depend on that offer, the proposal says.
The proposal needs 33.40 percent of bonded AKT and a yes majority. Voting runs for seven days. A query on 26 October showed 37.73 million AKT voting yes and 656,473 AKT voting no.
No-with-veto was 125 AKT. Abstain was zero. Bonded stake was 89.77 million AKT. Ballots cast were 38.39 million AKT, or 42.8 percent.
That share is above the 33.40 percent named in the proposal. Voting is still open. The tally is not a result.
What to watch
- The result when voting closes on 2 November
- Whether the token launch follows the blog’s two weeks or the proposal’s two to three weeks
- Which description of staked AKT the portal uses
- What happens to AKT that is not moved within two years of token launch
- When a cutover proposal sets a marketplace date
